I have not been as compliant with my medication regimen as I could be. I have forgotten a dose here and there and I know that if this was a real life situation, I would only be harming myself. I can see why patients are more reluctant to take medications that are dosed more frequently than once a day because it is very easy to forget to take it.
I would say that I have been somewhat compliant with taking my medication. I think in the beginning it took some time getting use to. I can understand that it takes time for patients as well as myself to have to remember to take their new medication, especially if they are not used to taking any medications at all. In the beginning I was definitely forgetting to take the medication but towards the mid-end of week it was alot easier to manage. I know that for some medications it's not good to miss doses so the pill boxes definitely come in handy.
I have been poorly compliant in the last two days. 12+ hours days are packed full and I tend to miss a dose or be 2-3 hours late to take it. I'm not used to taking a medication regularly so I haven't adopted the regimen into my lifestyle. I can see why patients having to start a new regimen would have difficulty with compliance.
I haven't been as compliant as I would like to be in taking my medication. Mostly just taking doses a few hours late after meals. I had implemented reminders which have helped some. It has been difficult to remain consistently compliant and I can see how patients have difficultly adapting to new or complex medication regimens. I don't take any medications currently other that this "medicine" so it has been a real change to try to fit it into my day to day life. I also believe that if I were actually diagnosed with a real condition and were prescribed real medication, I may have a little more motivation to take it as directed.
I would rate my compliance as very high. I have not missed any doses, nor my appointment. I also found that following my instructions did get easier as the week has gone on, especially after my INR check where my pharmacist adjusted my regimen from a varying number of tablets each day to taking three tablets consistently everyday. I am fortunately the type of person that keeps a schedule and calendar, and did not find it difficult to adjust to a new medication schedule.
I am going to say that my adherence has been very good. I only have to take my medication twice daily. the only problem I am having is taking it with food. So i guess the mechanism of the drug is not working as well as it could be. Keeping the medication out so I can see it all the time reminded me to take the medication every morning and evening.
Sorapy, if I had to take my medication four times daily out p3 schedule would have made it very difficult. I probably would have to set an alarm on my cell phone to remind me to take the medication during the 12 hour days of school and work. But like you said if i did have a real condition i would probably more compliant.
I would rate my adherence somewhere between pathetic and non-existent. I have been fortunate thus far in my life in that I haven't been on too many medications so when I actually am written a prescription it is a pretty big deal and I adhere to it without issue.
I have not been very compliant mainly because I have not been feeling well all week. I can definitely understand how even patients on a regular medication can have problems keeping up with a medication schedule especially if something in their health changes.
Mark, that is my exact thought process too! I was just looking back at my medication baggie today and there are still quite a few "pills" left. I just think that if I knew this was actually going to benefit my health in some way, then I would take it no problem, but because I know it's a candy (that I hated the taste of by the way) I don't feel like I NEED to take it! This was definetly a good exercise, but hard for me to follow most days!
I would rate my adherence pretty poor. On a scale of 1-10 id be at 3. I could not wake up in the middle of the night to take the medication and sometimes I would not have my phone near enough to me to hear the alarm. It is very difficult to take a medication every 4hours when you have a busy day. No day is the same as well. Its not easy to set a routine to take the medication at the same time every day. Overall it was an interesting experience.

ReplyDeleteNicole, I am completely with you. I guess I just don't see any urgency in taking my Chewy Spree.
